Come work off all that turkey and stuffing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>*** Due to increasing COVID-19 cases in Missouri, this year\u2019s event will look a little different.&nbsp; We hope these adjustments will make this a safe and fun event for everyone.<\/em>&nbsp;***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The course will be set up and available from Wednesday, November 25<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;through Saturday, December 5<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants can choose to do the course on their own anytime during those dates, or join the group start at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 28.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Registration:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>Please register online ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Register Here &#8211;&gt; <a href=\"https:\/\/stlouisorienteering.org\/staging\/4172\/product\/hawn-turkey-o-2020\/\">Hawn Turkey-O<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Format:<\/strong>\u00a0 A \u201cscore O\u201d format lets participants choose their own route and get as many checkpoints as possible in the time allotted.\u00a0 You can select either 1 hour or 3 hours.\u00a0 There are 28 checkpoints.  Five of the checkpoints are worth 3 points (noted on the clue sheet with an asterick). All other checkpoints are worth 1 point.\u00a0 Get as many as you can, in any order.\u00a0 But if you\u2019re late, there\u2019s a penalty of 1 point per minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Virtual Option:<\/strong>&nbsp; If you do the event on your own, you can either pick up the map (with checkpoints pre-marked) at the meet director\u2019s house in Kirkwood\/Glendale at any time (they\u2019ll be outside in a cooler).&nbsp; Or, you can have a scanned digital version sent via email. The hard-copy is much nicer!&nbsp; Email the meet director to insure a map is ready and waiting.&nbsp; Once you get the map, you can go to Hawn at any time.&nbsp; For safety, it\u2019s recommended you inform someone of your plans.&nbsp; It\u2019s also suggested you email your plan and emergency contacts to the meet director.&nbsp; Start at the main shelter and track your time.&nbsp; Remember, you goal is to get as many as you can in either 1 hour or 3 hours.&nbsp; When you\u2019re done, send your time and a picture of the punch card to the meet director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Group Start Option<\/strong>: Your map will be waiting for you at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 28 (please pre-register).&nbsp; We\u2019ll start at 11:00 am, but there will likely be multiple starts depending on the number of participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Additional details:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Please social distance at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Hand sanitizer will be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Maps will be pre-marked and placed with punch card into map cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We\u2019ll be using manual punches (not electronic).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Since the checkpoints are being placed ahead of time, it\u2019s possible they could disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;No water and no food will be provided.&nbsp; Please bring your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Results will not be announced at the finish.&nbsp; We like you, but socializing is discouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Meet Director:<\/strong>\u00a0Mark Geldmeier\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"mailto:mgeldmeier@earthlink.net\" target=\"_blank\">mgeldmeier@earthlink.net<\/a> ; cell:  314-966-0180<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Geldmeier is hosting a 3hr and 1hr Score &#8211; O format Orienteering meet at one of the most beautiful parks in the state!
