Come check out Kirkwood City park at night! Bring a flashlight, a mask, a compass, and some friends or family! This is SLOC’s longest running orienteering event.
Due to the Covid – 19 Pandemic, we have some restrictions on this event:
- In compliance with St. Louis County and Kirkwood City Parks, we are limited to 50 participants. First come, first serve so sign up now! If you sign up, please be sure to attend so that no spots are left unfilled and no one misses the opportunity for fun.
- Online Registration: to limit contact exposure at the the event, we are asking that everyone sign up and pay online by clicking on our “Event Registration” tab. Please read the liability waiver before signing up.
- Fees: Members are free; Individuals older than 12 years old are $10; Children 12 and under are free; Family max of $20.
- All event materials will be in plastic sleeves and ready for you upon your arrival. We will brief the whole group regarding the event details prior to the start.
- Social distancing seating arrangement at Kirkwood Amphitheater
- Masks required at the start and then they can be taken off once the event starts and participants are spread out
- Results will posted online following the event. We like you but please don’t hang around after the event to limit contact exposure.
Other details:
- Meeting place: Kirkwood Amphitheater: follow the orange orienteering signs
- Time: Pick up your packets starting at 7:00 PM and start planning your route on the map, Pre-Race Briefing at 7:45 PM, Race Start: 8:00 PM, Race Finish: 8:45 PM
- Event Details: Score-O: You get 45 minutes to find as many points (hanging orange kites) as you can and get back to the finish without going over time. Whichever team finds the most points in the least amount of time wins! Some people are competitive but others just want to have fun exploring the park in the dark and finding a few points on the way 🙂
- What to bring: Compass, Mask, Drinking Water, Headlamp and/or flashlight. NO food or water will be provide due to safety concerns.
