(~7:30 pm start) The Board meeting is open to all SLOC members and you are encouraged to attend and participate. At meeting, the business of the club is discussed and decisions are made – everything from creation of new maps, club merchandise, educational opportunities to support the community, and our financials. It’s pretty casual – bring chairs or a blanket and your favorite beverage.

2026-05-05 – Summer Sprint @ Shaw Park
Join us for the start of the Summer Sprint Series. As we get closer to summer, we move our events to smaller local parks sprint events which are intended to be shorter in length with more fine grained navigation.
For this event, there will be two separate sprints. Everyone can participate in both.
The first will be a traditional sprint – a point to point course that is designed to have winning times between 15-20 minutes. If you are walking the course, it may take as long as 40 minutes.
For those of you who know the race director, he sometimes experiments with other formats during the summer sprint series. This course is only for fun, and the exact details won’t be revealed until the event itself. But – you should bring your GPS tracking device for this event – your Garmin, your Apple watch, or even your phone with an app like Strava or LiveLox.
AND there is more: The SLOC Board spring board meeting will be held at the pavilion directly following the event. (~7:30 pm start) …. See more detail here
Date/Time: May 5, 2026 – 6pm first start

2025-11-30 Cuivre River Turkey-O Wrap-up
After a blast of early-season snowfall swept through the area region early Saturday morning, our Thanksgiving O-meet was forced to take an unplanned pause. With the snowfall leading to Cuirve River State Park’s temporary closure, this meant a last-minute rescheduling or the meet was required. Thanks to all the flexibility of our participants and volunteers, we were able to regroup Sunday morning and enjoy a crisp, bright day of orienteering through a winter wonderland.
Results
Thank you to everyone who came out and competed on the rescheduled date. Congratulations to all finishers—conditions were still soft underfoot, but that didn’t slow down some impressive performances.

Acknowledgments
A meet like this is only possible because of amount of behind-the-scenes effort. A big Thank You goes out to Mark Geldmeier for his numerous quick communication updates and overall guidance, Derek Hebda for spending many hours in the woods meticulously verifying the course to ensure everything on the map matched the ground and Ken Debeer and Jim Huss for clearing the course.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the next event—hopefully under calmer skies.
2025-08-23 Creve Coeur 4 Adventure Race

Preliminary Results:
Thanks to all of you, 80 racers over 38 teams who toed the line at the inaugural CC4 Adventure Race. On behalf of SLOC and the race directing team that put this event on, we are very grateful for your participation. Prelim results are posted. If you see any discrepancies, please report them to us at contourline@stlouisorienteering.org ASAP.
A few housekeeping notes. I’ve created a shared Google drive with pictures. If you have photos, please send them to me by email and I’ll get them posted. We also have several items in the lost and found that are pretty nice. Two Kanpas compasses, two more compasses, a pair of Prana pants, sunglasses and a waterbottle. This stuff is all in the gear box we bring to the meets so if you are the owner of these items please reach out or show up at the Kirkwood Night O scheduled for September 13th. There are several nice items in there from the Babler O meet earlier this year and other stuff along the way.
If you have any feedback for us, please share that too. While the race directing team has participated in countless ARs and put on many O meets, this was our first go at this type of race and as we contemplate both our near-term fall schedule and the 2026 landscape, we’d like to know what you are interested in seeing. And, we are always looking for volunteers to help with our regular meets so if you want to give back to the community and take the a lead, or even supporting role, in directing a race, we’d love to have you.
Many thanks and congratulations to each one of you!
Attached is a more detailed set of results with timing from each leg for those who want to go into a little more detail.

2024-11-09 Halloween-O at Cliff Cave
Okay, so we had an issue with the park permit and had to re-schedule for 9 days after Halloween…but, we’re not changing the name. After all, the spooky holiday tradition must continue! With dozens of depressions, sinkholes, and caves, even the experienced navigator is sure to get turned around in circles. However, with plenty of catching features it’s also a great park for beginners.
The format this year is a score-O for the beginners and intermediate, plus a “dog-bone” score-O for the advanced. A score-O means you have a fixed amount of time. For this event, it’s 2 hours. And you can get any CP’s in any order. You don’t have to get them all, but you have to be back before the time limit. The dog-bone variety is when two CP’s are connected with a line on the map. If you get one, you must go directly to the other before getting anything else.
Date: Saturday, November 9th.
Location: Cliff Cave County Park. Upper Parking lot.
Time: Registration opens at 10:00 am. First Start: 11:00 am. Last Start: Noon. Course closes at 2:00 pm.
Meet Director: Jeff & Carrie Sona
Courses:
- Beginner – 2-hour score-O
- Intermediate – 2-hour score-O
- Advanced – 2-hour score-O with dog-bone format
2024-08-06 Eureka Bike O – Vol. III
Sprint #6 of the Tuesday evening summer series.
Tuesday, August 6, 2024, 6pm
We are back in lovely Old Town Eureka for the third time in 6 years with another bike orienteering event. Â Come join us for an evening ride around our small town checking out a number of the local parks. Â REGISTER NOW!
The Courses
The short course is about a 3 mile ride but you are welcome to scale that shorter, or add in some of the long course points to make it longer.  The navigation will be beginner level, but intermediate level folks might find a short cut or two.  This course is almost completely flat and uses the paved trail system around Eureka with a few brief road sections in the downtown area.  There are cross walks as well so families can feel very comfortable on this course.
The long course will take you about 8-10 miles.  While this course remains flat, more navigational skill will be needed to complete the course in a competitive time.  The long course will incorporate the short course. You will use two maps, there will be a seperate map with only the long course.
SPECIAL CHALLENGE! In partnership with our friends at Eureka Crossfit, there will be a special challenge this year that will be required on both courses.  The challenge location will be indicated on your map and when you arrive you will follow the instructions of the facilitator.  You must complete the challenge successfully in order to receive the punch for that control.  We are not spilling all the details but be ready to be off your bike for a few minutes. Â
The Details
In person registration begins at 6pm with starts to begin at 6:15pm. Â No starts will be allowed after 7pm. We will use ePunch for the courses and both courses use a Score O format meaning you get as many checkpoints (a.k.a. controls) as possible within a 60 minute window from your start. Â All checkpoints are worth 10 points. Â Anyone finishing past 60 minutes will be penalized 5 points per full minute. Â The course closes at 8pm sharp. Â
The Start/Finish
Like in 2022, we will be hosted by Joe Boccardi’s in Eureka.  We will be on the patio.  Please park behind the building in the designated lot and use either that lot or the adjacent lot across from the Eureka Post Office for your bike staging. Â
Do not bring your bike into the restaurant or patio area. Â Access the HQ at all times before and during the event ONLY through the back door entrance of the restaurant. Â
After you finish the course and turn in your punch card (eStick), please join the SLOC family for food, drink, and tales of the course on the patio to Joe Boccardi’s!
The Gear
You are welcome to ride any bike you wish. You must wear a bike helmet. From there, bring your own snacks and hydration. We will provide you with the materials to make a simple but effective way to attach your map to your handlebars.
