2026-09-19 David Frei Memorial Kirkwood Night-O Results

It was a warm and wonderful evening of “flashlight” fun once again in Kirkwood City Park. We had another great turn out for a SLOC classic – our annual family-friendly night-o at the David Frei Memorial Meet. This year’s course map was a David Frei “original” map from years of old, with a few minor updates due to park changes over time. What a joy to welcome returning regulars as well as many new faces to the challenging and fun sport of orienteering. It truly makes this meet special. A big thanks to our SLOC volunteers – Yvonne Deyo for map making, course vetting and all things needed, Carrie Sona for registration, scoring and clean up, as well as Mark Geldmeier for scoring, teaching new participants and general vibing with everyone. Special thanks to the 100+ orienteers who shared your time and positive energy with us. Results are below to the best of our abilities. We are missing some data due to missing punch card “souvenirs”, but feel free to contact SLOC for updates/corrections. 2027-03-20 March Babler Night-O and Day-O

Yep, we’re doing a night-O at Babler on the new map! The first meet is on Saturday with another seperate meet on Sunday morning. There’ll be camping for those who want to spend the night and enjoy the campfire stories. This format has been a great time the last two years, come join us for two days of orienteering, stay the night and camp, or just commute.

2027-01-23 Cold Nose-O at West Tyson

It’s January. It’s cold. And that means…wait…West Tyson? Yes, Yvonne wanted a change of scenery. It’s still got climb…but it has some super flat too. Fulfill you New Year’s resolutions and get outside! There will be four “point-to-point” courses to chose from. HQ will be at the Roth Lodge (indoors).

2026-11-28 Turkey-O at Cuivre River

This is great park for some holiday week exercise. The terrain is glacially modified – that means the hills are not as steep as some of our other large parks – and there’s a beautiful lake nearby.

Family and friends in town?  Take them orienteering! Or let them do a scenic fall color hike…while you’re out looking for checkpoints.

Time: Start anytime between 10:00 am & Noon. Course closes 3:00 pm.

Location: Cuivre River State Park

Meet Director: Mark Geldmeier

Courses: A 3-hour or 1-hour score-O. That means you have one or three hours to find as many checkpoints as you can (in any order). There’ll be plenty of nearby easy CP’s for beginners to find.

Jeff & Carrie are excited to host another event at Cliff Cave. Cliff Cave has dozens of sinkholes to get you spinning in circles. But it’s not that big, you can’t get too lost!

Time: Registration opens at 10:00 am. First Start: 11:00 am. Last Start: Noon. Course closes at 2:00 pm.

Sorry, we had a bit of shuffling of locations for this event. We now have the Leaf Pavilion reserved at Laumeier Sculpture Park. It’s Halloween and what better location to celebrate than with the whimsical scenery at the Sculpture Park. Mixing nature and art, it’s the perfect combination to celebrate the Fall season. The Bart family hasn’t put on an event in a few years, we’re super excited that they’ve agreed to host this event. Come out and get some steps in before your evening activities!

Courses: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.
